| | About Liquid Latex The many uses for polymers and rubbers are practically endless, and available in a rainbow of customized formulations. The possibilities are endless. Imagine - a rubber that appears to be a nothing more than simple, bottled liquid, then air dries in minutes to form a fully-realized sheet of latex!
Just a few of the possible uses include:
- Painting your face with your favorite team colors or unique designs
- Making your own custom latex gloves & accessories
(yes, removable and reusable accessories)
- Creating full-body costumes out of molds, as well as
customized rubber to fit any appendage that you can paint, or dip, or spray, or pour, or drip the stuff on!
Sounds unbelievable? Well, it's true and it's called Liquid Latex.
This pasty liquid - available in a variety of alluring colors - will self-vulcanize at room temperature. A thin layer applied at room temperature will dry in about 5-10 minutes. After the surface coat is dry to the
touch, it may be re-dipped for additional coatings to any desired thickness. After you have applied all the layers you wish, the product will totally dry in about 1 hour, and totally cure (ready to use) in about 4 hours.
To make a custom pair of gloves, you might want to make 5 dips, then wait an adequate cure time before removing. Regarding your other body parts, the same rule applies. As for body hair...well, just be prepared. If you don't get rid of it first, you'll probably lose it the hard way when you try to get your finished latex product off your body.
Liquid Latex can coat almost anything. Non-porous surfaces will not hold on to the cured product, and can therefore be used as a mold. Porous products (such as jeans, shirts, etc.) will permanently hold the latex once cured.
Latex that is cured at room temperature is always a little bit prone to adhering to itself. Therefore, a surface treatment is recommended after curing is complete (our
Ultra Shine Spray works well).
All liquid latex products use ammonia as a preservative agent. It doesn't really smell all that bad, but if you are hypersensitive to the smell, you won't be thrilled about it. Once the liquid latex dries, though, the smell is completely gone. Also, if you are allergic to ammonia-based products, then you shouldn't put it on your skin. Performing a simple test of using latex in contact with a small area of your skin for about 4 hours will quickly determine if you will have a hypersensitive reaction to latex.
If you haven't already done so, then you owe it to yourself to try at least a small jar of liquid latex for starters (unless you just can't wait to fill your bathtub), and have a ball! Better yet, why not try out one of
our Liquid Latex Sampler Sleeves and test your creativity using the variety of colors available in our
Liquid Latex Body Cosmetic or
Fluorescent Liquid Latex!
Liquid Latex can be applied many different ways, including:
*dripping *pouring *dipping
